TITLE: I-KAN Schools Principal

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Holds a bachelor’s degree in a relevant area to education, guidance, or student services.
  2. Holds a current teaching certificate (Elementary, Secondary, Special, Substitute or General Administrative)
  3. Perform physical activities including but not limited to standing, walking, running and climbing.
  4. Maintain emotional control under stress. 
  5. Possess a valid Illinois Drivers License.
  6. Other qualifications as deemed necessary by the Regional Superintendent
  7. Any of the above qualifications may be waived by the Regional Superintendent when necessary

SUPERVISES: RAAC and SALT educators, and Support Staff

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: The I-KAN Schools Principal oversees all aspects of the RAAC and SALT programs for the I-KAN Regional Office of Education.  The principal serves to provide for the educational needs of students referred to the program and provides interventions to meet their unique and varied needs.  



PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Register students and generate appropriate class schedules.
  2. Will be responsible for the attendance and discipline of students.
  3. Review student transcripts with students and parents to help set goals for high school completion and a career path upon registration.
  4. Meet with parents and students who fail to comply with program objectives.
  5. Monitor students' progress with relation to their academic, behavioral and attendance goals. 
  6. Meets with school principals and guidance counselors concerning student progress on a regular basis.
  7. Meet with principals and superintendents concerning the program objectives and outcomes.
  8. Meet with teachers in sharing student’s goals and review progress weekly and discuss program modifications, challenges, and successes.
  9. Work with social service providers to provide necessary recommended support for students.  
  10. Serve on the Safety Committee to update the Safety Plan for the combined sites.
  11. Monitor school referrals for appropriateness.
  12. Coordinate and facilitate staff meetings and institute days.
  13. Monitor RAAC and SALT budget.
  14. Foster partnerships with community partners.
  15. Prepare and submit TAEOP Grant in conjunction with the Attendance Assistance Director.
  16. Submit School Calendar and state required reports for the RAAC and SALT programs.
  17. Prepare an annual school handbook.
  18. Evaluate school needs and help institute new programs.
  19. Is responsible for all building issues. 
  20. Attend state meetings for the program, as needed.
  21. Perform other duties as assigned by their supervisor.
